Notes from the ARTN Convention 2013

Datatrax is very proud to have been a sponsor of the Australian Regional Tourism Network (ARTN) Convention 2013, which was held in Margaret River WA from October 21st to 25th. Through representing Datatrax at the Convention I had the privilege of networking with some great people who work in regional tourism all over the country, seeing the beautiful Busselton and Margaret River regions, and learning so much through interesting and informative seminars.

In particular, there was much discussion among the delegates and speakers about the types of activities that regional destinations are currently undertaking to market to visitors from overseas and other parts of Australia. For Datatrax this is an opportunity to review how we work with other stakeholders to promote our clients and partners and to provide visitor information. We’ll definitely use the experience in formulating our ongoing plans for the network.

Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend it to any tourism professional focusing on regional Australia. I am really looking forward to seeing the strategies and initiatives that materialise over the next year and hope to be able to be involved in future Conventions. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in organising the week!

The Busselton and Margaret River regions have some excellent tourism products and services on offer. I was fortunate to be able to experience some of what there is to see and do in the area.
